Everybody loves frames and I have had several requests
as to when I am going to do some more. Once again, I discovered a
new way in making a frame by accident. We won't be using borders,
nor will we be contracting. I think you will enjoy learning this new
method.
This tutorial will be using several third party plugin
filters. We use my favorite Silver Filter from Flaming Pear's Designer
Sextet series, although you can use Super Blade Pro or Ulead Art Texture
if you prefer. Filter Factory Gallery A's Pool Shadow gives us the
pearled border and EyeCandy4000 glass is added to the last part of
the frame. If you are new to plugins please view my How
To Install Plugins tutorial.
My tutorials are only guidelines to help you accomplish
a certain creation. Please feel free to be inventive and take whatever
liberties you would like. I encourage each of you to do your "own
thing" and make your creation yours!
This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04
and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP and filters at an
intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6
with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so
I can't make promises *S*

A Graphic ~~ I used L'Amour de D'Artagnon by Jonathon Earl Bowser.
He does give permission on his website to use his art for noncommercial
use with a link to his site. Please view his wonderful art HERE.
If you would like to use this graphic please right click and save
to your hard drive.

Now that we have all of that out of the way, let's
get started!
Step 1:
Open your graphic in PSP and make a copy of it (Shift+D). The main
reason for making a copy is in case I want to use the image again
and forget to change the name when I save *S* You can close out your
original graphic.
Step 2:
Resize your image to what you want your finished creation to be. For
example, the graphic I used was resized to 350 pixels on the longest
side. Go to Images-->Resize. Make sure pixel size is checked and
resize all layers and maintain ratio aspect are checked.

Go to Effects-->Sharpen-->Sharpen.
Step 3:
Go to Layers -->Promote to Layer. This is very important. Go to
Images-->Resize. Check Percentage of original and enter 95. UNcheck
resize all layers and keep the maintain aspect ratio checked.

Go to Effects-->Sharpen-->Sharpen. Make sure
you sharpen after each resize.
Step 4:
Pick up your magic wand, tolerance and feather at 0, and click on
the transparent area around your graphic.

Flood fill with any color. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Flaming
Pear-->Silver. To get to the md-goldstrip preset that I made, click
on the red arrow
and
navigate to your Silver Presets Folder and open the md-goldstrip preset.
Press OK.
If you would like to change the color of the preset you can do so
at color 1 and color2. I did a second one with the following 2 colors,
making color 2 a little darker than color 1.
Keep selected
and save.
Step 5:
Go to Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel and apply the md-frame1 preset.
Go to Selections-->Invert. Selections-->Float (Ctrl+F). Effects-->3D-->Cutout
and apply the following settings. Deselect and save.

Step 6:
Set your foreground color to a complementary color from your graphic.
I chose a pale green on my first one, #B1B898. Go to Images-->Resize,
enter 85 in the percentage. All layers UNchecked. Effects-->Sharpen-->Sharpen.
With your magic wand select the transparent area around your graphic,
flood fill with your foreground color. Keep selected. Go to Selections-->Float
(Ctrl+F) and apply the cutout. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Filter
Factory Gallery A-->Pool Shadow and apply the following settings.
Deselect and Save.

Step 7:
One more resize and we will be done with this frame. *S* Images-->Resize.
Enter 90 for the percentage. Effects-->Sharpen-->Sharpen. Select
the transparent area with your magic wand. Flood fill with any color
and apply your silver filter. Keep selected. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Eye
Candy 4000-->Glass. In selections apply the md-cutglass preset
that you downloaded earlier. Keep selected. Go to Effects-->3D-->Drop
Shadow and apply the following settings. Deselect and Save.

That's all there is to it. We're done! Here is the
one I did with changing the colors in Silver, and using a different
fill color prior to the pool shadow.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as
I did creating it.
