Here is tutorial #3 implementing the Sinedot Plugin filter and you will be making your own mask or perhaps several of them like I have *S* Masks used to intimidate me when I was first learning PSP but they really aren't that hard to do or to make. Hopefully this tutorial will help give you a start at making your own masks.

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP at an intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
DragonFly's Sinedot Filter - You can get it HERE
**Unzip to your plugin folder

Step 1:
Open a new image 250 x 250, 16 million colors, transparent background.
Set your foreground color to black and flood fill your layer.

Step 2:
Go to Effects --> Plugins-->DragonFly-->Sinedot Now start playing around with the settings. Your imagination is limitless. These are the settings I used to make this particular mask but make yours unique. Make it your own *S* Click OK when you are done.

Step 3:
Go to Masks-->New-->From Image Use these settings and click okay

You'll get something that looks like this but don't panic, when you apply it to a graphic it will look just fine.

Step 4:
Now you want to save your mask so you can use it over and over again. Go to Mask-->Save to Disk You might want to make a new folder with just the Masks that you make so they will be easier to find. I made a folder called Moon's Designs (oh, gee how original LOL) and name it something that you'll remember. I always put an MD- in front of my masks to show that they are originals of mine.

Now you have your very own mask saved to use over again. Some masks look better on one style of graphic than another. For example, the mask that I made for this tutorial looks great on a tall narrow graphic but doesn't do much for a short wider one. That's why I have made so many different types masks using this one filter and play around with which one will look best. Here is the end result of this mask. I got the graphic in a WET exchange in a group that I am in and we aren't sure who the artist is so if anyone know please email so I can write to the artist.

To learn more about applying the mask to your graphic please go to my Sinedot Mask/Frame Tutorial.

I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it for you. Many thanks to Elkay, Anneli, and Randie for testing this tutorial.
