A
great many of
you use Paint
Shop Pro for
restoring and/or
correcting photos.
JASC now has
included a Photo
Toolbar for your
convenience.
This tutorial
will show you
some of the features
of this toolbar.

This
tutorial is written
in and for PSP8
and assumes you
have a working
knowledge of
PSP.
YOU WILL
NEED:
JASC's PSP8 (30
day free trial)
- You can get
it HERE

The
Photo Bar includes,
from left to
right, an Enhance
Photo drop-down
list (which we
explore below),
Barrel Distortion
Correction, Fisheye
Distortion Correction,
Pincushion Distortion
Correction, Fade
Correction, Black
& White Points,
Manual Color
Correction, Histogram
Adjustment, Adjust
HSL, JPEG Artifact
Remover and Unsharp
Mask.
The
Black & White
Points is new
and allows you
to correct the
color of an image
by specifying
how to adjust
at least one
of a highlight
color, a midtone
color and a shadow
color.
Histogram
Adjustment now
displays the
histogram of
both the original
image and the
adjusted image.
Below
is an original
photograph of
my Grandmother
Carr, after Black
& White Points
are selected
and then using
the histogram
and cropping.
The
Enhanced Photo
Dropdown Menu
is shown in the
Screenshot below:

RED-EYE
REMOVAL
Doing
Volunteer work
for Valley
Cats, Inc,
I take a lot
of pictures of
cats. It is inevitable
that I get a
lot of red-eye
and am so pleased
with the Red-eye
removal tool
in PSP. The example
below is one
of our many rescued
cats, Handsome
is a wonderful
Himalyan. Using
the default settings
for Auto Animal
Eye, I clicked
on his Iris.
You can see on
the right panel
how it corrected
it.

Clicked
on the other
eye and voila
- Handsome looks
so much better
~smiles~. Handsome
before Red-Eye
Removal and after.
You
may choose the
One Step Photo
Fix to automatically
fix your photo's
or do each step
individually
and using your
own settings.
I love the One
Step Photo Fix
and have a couple
of examples below.
The first is
Larry before
One Step and
after One Step.
Living
in Southern California,
I manage to get
over to Hollywood
once in awhile
~smiles~. Larry
got me a digital
camera for Christmas
and I took some
pictures in Hollywood.
Below is a picture
of the new Kodak
Theater where
the Academy Awards
are held. I was
very disappointed
with the shadow
that I got and
was thrilled
when the One
Step helped my
photograph along.
Below is the
original, after
One Step is applied
and then I applied
it one more time.
What
you can do with
V8, the Photo
Toolbar and the
One Step Photo
Fix is worth
the price of
admission alone.
If
you have any
problems, comments
or questions
please do not
hesitate to E-mail
me.
