While
you can do text
on a path in
PSP7, it is a
little different
in PSP8 and this
tutorial is written
to show you how
to do this. When
doing your text
on a path in
V8, your text
is justified
off of the point
where you click,
this gives you
more control
on where you
want to place
your text.
My
tutorials are
only guidelines
to help you accomplish
a certain creation.
Please feel free
to be inventive
and take whatever
liberties you
would like. I
encourage each
of you to do
your "own
thing" and
make your creation
yours! Your finished
creation is yours
to do with as
you please.
Screenshots
are resized and
compressed for
faster loading.
Don't forget
to SAVE your
work often.
This
tutorial is written
in and for PSP8
and assumes you
have a working
knowledge of
PSP.
FOR THIS TUTORIAL
YOU WILL NEED:
JASC's
PSP8 (30 day
free trial) -
You can get it
HERE
1.
Open a new image
450x450, transparent
background. I
used a transparent
background because
I wasn't sure
what I wanted
the background
to be yet. If
you know what
your background
is, feel free
to use that now.
Set your foreground
materials palette
to null and your
background to
the color, pattern,
or gradient you
wish to use.
I chose a red
for my initial
color.
2.
Activate your
Preset Shapes,
,
and choose Ellipse,
retain style
checked, antialias
checked and create
as vector checked.

If
you wish you
make your text
on a circle,
hold down the
shift key and
start in the
upper left hand
corner and draw
out your circle.
*Tip
- If you draw
from right to
left your text
will be backwards,
if you start
from bottom to
top your text
will be upside
down.
Activate
your text tool,
,
create as floating
and choose your
font and size.
(Note: You can
also choose selection
or vector text
to accomplish
this.) Depending
on where you
click on your
circle will depend
on where it will
be placed. Hover
your cursor where
you would like
your text to
start, you will
get this symbol
by your shape
.
Click on your
canvas and your
text box will
appear. Type
in your text
and hit apply.
Below I have
where I place
text on the left
side, right side
and the top of
my circle.

Step
4:
After you hit
apply, deselect
your text. Your
text will automatically
be placed on
a new layer called
Promoted Selection.
Step
5:
Once you have
your text placed
you can delete
your ellipse.
Go to your layer
palette, highlight
your vector layer
and click on
the delete icon.

NOTE:
If you do use
vector text,
in lieu of floating
or selection,
then hide the
ellipse layer
in your vector
and promote your
vector layer
to raster for
adding drop shadow.
If you delete
just the ellipse
your text will
become straight.
Add
a drop shadow
to your promoted
selection texts
if you would
like to, add
a background
to your Raster1
layer and you're
done. You can
see my example
at the top of
this tutorial.
If
you have any
problems, comments
or questions
please do not
hesitate to E-mail
me.
