I'm really going to try to make this my last Sinedot tutorial
for now and move onto some other filters. As much as I enjoy the Sinedot
filter there are many others out there that also deserve my investigating
and seeing what all wonderful things we can do with them. **smiles**
This tutorial also uses Fantastic Machines Paint Engine plugin
which is another wonderful free plugin filter.
This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7 and assumes
you have a working knowledge of PSP at an intermediate level. I am
sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in
paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S*
You will need:
JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get itHERE DragonFly's Sinedot Filter - You can get it
HERE
** Unzip into your plug-ins folderPlease note: to get the
defaults make sure that you press the Assign Path.exe icon
Fantastic Machines PaintEngine Filter - You can get it HERE **Unzip into your plug-ins folder AND also unzip into your C:/Windows
folder to enable the default settings
My Gold Gradient - You can get it HERE
**unzip into your PSP Gradients folder 20/20 - You can get it HERE This is a stand alone program that you just need to run.
Whew ~~ now that you have all of THAT done let's
get this show on the road!
Step 1:
Open a new image 250 x 250, 16 million colors, transparent background.
Set your foreground color to the MD-Gold gradient that you just unzipped.
Flood fill your layer.
Step 2:
Add a new layer and make your foreground color to the color of your
choice. Flood fill your layer.
Step 3:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Fantastic Machines-->Paint Engine
and apply the Soft Brush 2 default. I applied it twice.
Step 4:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Dragonfly-->Sinedots You can, of
course, fiddle around with the sliders until you get the effect you
would like ~~ I used the Something default.
Step 5:
I then set the opacity of this layer to 70 ~~ see how pretty the Gold
shines through? At this point merge these two layers flatten.
Step 6:
Duplicate the merged layer by either going to Layers->>Duplicate
or right click on your layer palette Duplicate. Go to Image-->Mirror
and lower the opacity of this layer to 70. Merge all layers flatten,
save your image as a jpg and this is what you should have ~~ or something
very similar
Step 7:
Okay, let's bring this into 20/20. Those of you who have done my other
Sinedot background tutorial this will be a
snap. I am still going to go step by step for those who have not done
that tutorial as of yet. Open 20/20 and go to File-->Open. Find
the image you saved and bring it up.
Step 8: Open Image and it will bring you to another toolbar where you can select Seamless
Tile.
Click
on Seamless Tile and it will convert it before you very eyes.
Step 9:
Now we want to make it muted so it's not so hard to view on the eyes.
Here is where you click to make it muted. You can adjust the opacity to your liking. Mine is set at 64%
but play around with it and see what you like best. Then press apply.
Step 10:
Now all you have to do is save it and you will be all set to have your
own background for your Website or to use as stationery in your email.
Go to File-->SaveAs and name your background. Make sure you UNcheck
the append to existing file in case you want to keep your original image
for another use.
Once again, I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial
as much as I did making it. Much thanks to my testers ~~ without them
I wouldn't be as far along as I am. *S*
Here are a couple of more brushed satin backgrounds
that I have made:
