I was inspired to do this tutorial after creating a background for the SinedotsAddicts page, which is still under construction. After looking at it time and time again I thought it would generate a gorgeous drape material. When I first started PSP, I was tutorial hungry. I found as many tutorials as I could and did them, but I never saved the tutorials in my favorites. I didn't know about such things back then *grin* Needless to say I couldn't remember where I first learned how to do the drapes but I did basically remember some of the steps that created the end result. After I sent my finished drapes into the group I had several requests for a tutorial. I hesitated in doing so for fear that I would be labeled a thief, but I also felt that so many requested a tutorial that I should accommodate them. Any similarities to any other tutorial on the Internet is purely unintentional.

The Sinedots II filter is completely different from the original Sinedots. If this is your first time using it please review my Using Sinedots II tutorial first.

This tutorial uses Sinedots II, Simple Quick Tile filter, PSP's Geometric Circle, Perspective Horizontal, and Warp. I used Dizzinz Gemsets for my Ding, but of course you can use anything that you like. I make my tutorials as guidelines for you to achieve a certain effect. Please feel free to make any variation and make your creation yours!

This tutorial is written in and for PSP Version 7.04 and assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP and filters at an intermediate level. I am sure this can easily be done in Version 6 with a few adjustments in paths but I have only used Version 7 so I can't make promises *S* Remember to save your work often!

You will need:

JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
Simple Quick Tile ~~ You can get it HERE.
**Unzip into your Plugins Folder. If you don't have a folder in your presets called Simple you might want to create one and unzip it there.

Sinedots II ~~ You can get it HERE.

**If this is the first time using the Sinedots II filter then create a new folder in your Plugins Folder and unzip your Sinedots II into this folder.
My Drapes Preset file ~~ You can get it HERE.

**Unzip into your folder you have made for your Sinedots II.
Dizzinz Gemsets Dingbat ~~ You can get it HERE
**While you are this site check out other Dingbats that you might want for future use. You can either unzip these into your Fonts Folder or you can do what I do and create a new folder called Fonts in My Documents and unzip them there. You can then open the font/dingbat that you want to use and minimize it on your computer ~~ when you need it in PSP it will be there and you won't have your regular fonts clogging up your PSP.
Blade Pro or Ulead for your ding ~~ This is optional and if you have done any of my other tutorials you probably have them.

Step 1:
Open a new image, 300 x 300; 16 million colors and a transparent background. Set your foreground color to #4789B1 and floodfill your layer. (Don't forget, you CAN use a different color and you can also change the color of your preset when you get to that part, you can see an example at the end of this tutorial)

Step 2:
Do NOT add a new layer. Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Dragonfly-->SinedotsII. Towards the bottom of your screen you will see this:

Press open and navigate to your Sinedots folder and open the md-drapes preset. Press the drop down arrow and click on md-drapes. Click OK and save your work.

Step 3:
Go to Effects-->Plugins-->Simple-->QuickTile and press OK.

Step 4:
Go to Images-->Rotate and rotate your image 90 degrees to the right.

Step 5:
Go to Effects-->Texture Effects-->Blinds and apply the following settings:

Step 6:
Have you been saving? Duplicate the image (Shift+D). We will now be working on the duplicated image. Minimize your original image for now. Rotate the duplicated image to the right 90 degrees. We are now going to make the Swags for the drapes.

Step 7:
Go to Effects-->Geometric Effects -->Circle. Don't forget to save.

Step 8:
Go to Effects-->Geometric Effects-->Perspective Horizontal and apply the following:

Reapply the Perspective Horizontal again but change the % Difference to Minus 100. Save.

Step 9:
Now that's all well and good but I wanted it to be a bit fuller. Go to Effects-->Geometric Effects-->Warp and apply the following:

Step 10:
Pick up your selection tool set at rectangle and starting at coordinates 0,0 draw a rectangle around the top half of your image.

Press Delete and Save.

Step 11:
With your mover tool move your swag to the upper part of your screen. And make a copy of it. Edit-->Copy (Ctrl+C)

Step 12:
Go to Edit-->Paste-->As a New Layer (Ctrl+L) and move it over to the left so the right end is at coordinate 150. Save.

Step 13:
Repeat step 12 except this time move it to the right with the left end being at coordinate 150. Save.

Step 14:
Apply the following drop shadow to each of the Swag Layers.

Step 15:
Go to Layers -->Merge-->Merge All Visible. Save.

Step 16:
Add a new layer. Go to Layers-->Arrange-->Send to the bottom. Activate your original image and copy it. Go back to your Swag Image and Paste as a new layer (Ctrl+L). This will cover your entire page so grab your mover tool and move your drape to the left of your screen until you have it place where you would like it and save.

Step 17:
Go to your Layers-->Duplicate and the Images-->Mirror.

Step 18:
Activate each panel separately and add the same drop shadow that you used on the Swags. The settings should still be the same when you activate the drop shadow.

Step 19:
Go to your layer palette and hide layer 1. It should be a blank layer. Make sure you are on your top layer and go to Layers-->Merge-->Merge Visible. Save.

Step 20:
Add a new layer. Make your foreground and background color white. Open your text tool and go to Dizzinz Gemsets. I used the letter k with the size of 24. See Below:

Step 21:
Fill with your favorite Blade Pro preset or Ulead Art Texture Preset. I used Blade Pro's Gold Glitter. You could also flood fill with a Gold Pattern or Gradient. Keep selected and add the following Inner Bevel (Effects-->3D-->Inner Bevel) Keep Selected.

Step 22:
Add your drop shadow once again and we are done! Don't forget to merge your decoration with the rest of your drapes *smiles*

You can now tube your drapes for future use. I added a Sky Scene from KPT6 and then a window to mine, as shown at the top of this tutorial.

Below is another one that I did using the Smearing Gold Gradient and changing the color of the preset to a gold color. I then colorized it in Harry's Filters. Remember, there is so much that you can do in PSP.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as I have creating it for you.
